About Verve Studio
about krystal
did you know they make army boots in size 3?
krystal began her professional photographic career as a photojournalist for the US Army. they sent her to bosnia, kosovo, ecuador and other delightful vacation spots, but she grew tired of taking pictures of the worst days of people's lives, and decided to focus on the best days, instead. added bonus: there's less sniper fire at weddings. unfortunately, there is more electric sliding at weddings than war zones.
since then krystal has gone on to win countless awards and honors for her wedding and portrait photography and earned the title "master photographer" from the professional photographers of america.
krystal snorts when she laughs, reads a new romance novel every two days, loves campy horror movies, sly stallone (don't be hatin'), singing in the car (windows rolled down), and her surly kitty, "half-price the cat."
about matt
pretend i said something funny.
now that you're smiling, here's who i am.
i love comic books. i love science fiction. i love the old star trek. i hate the new star trek. i love cat videos on the internet. i make cat videos on the internet (you're welcome).
i hate bad light. i love good light. better yet, i love making good light where there wasn't any (you're welcome).
the proudest day of my life (besides marrying krystal) was earning my master of photography degree. the second proudest was when i defeated chong li in kumite, an illegal and underground freestyle, single-elimination and occasionally deadly full-contact martial arts tournament to which the world's best martial artists are clandestinely invited every five years.
okay, the second part of that didn't actually happen (yet) but it would be awesome if it did.

Daniella & Oliver: Hot Times in the City
March 30, 2010 - Engagements
Daniella & Oliver came all the way back from Miami to Gainesville where they met to do their engagement session and it was sooooo worth it!
They met at a Gainesville institution, The Swamp bar and restaurant right across from UF Campus on University. Its white picket fence and endless garden tables right along the avenue bring back great memories. So of course it made sense to start their session there and then move over to UF campus and stadium for a few shots.
The two of them are quick to laugh, hug and fall into each other. What more can a photographer dream for than that, people who are not only genuinely in love but who are quite obviously the best of friends.
At dusk we made our way downtown to try a few fun shots near the vibrantly lit columns of the Hippodrome, and lastly at the top of the downtown parking garage for some sexy starlit images.
Without further ado...

It's Always Friday In Here...
March 29, 2010 - Commercial
For the second year in a row I was commissioned by TGI Friday's to photograph their Southern Regional Flair Bartending competition in Orlando. I love it when I get commercial assignments like this, as much as I love wedding and portrait photography, it's always nice to step outside the box and tackle a new challenge.
Let me know what you think!
Let me know what you think!
I'm still picking this crap out of the seals around my camera....

Jackie & Flint: A Gainesville Wedding
March 9, 2010 - Weddings
Jackie & Flint called us just a few weeks before their wedding day with a vision of tropical flowers and colors in the middle of winter.... umm OK! Seriously I like the cold, but just a day pretending that it's a balmy 75 and sunny sounded like heaven after this crazy winter!
And wow, did their floral artist Joan Prange deliver! How did she even find these out of season tropical blossoms on such short notice? Not only that but the skies and gardens felt willing to comply... everything was green, blooming and filled with sunshine. It was a perfect tropical wedding in the middle of winter... the perfect collaboration of nature, love and serendipity.
Then add Jackie, meeting Flint for the first time in her svelte gown, their families nearby, his sweet little tow-headed boys running around; it was a charming day.
Thank you so much for letting us share it with you!

Nancy and Anthony - A Gainesville Wedding
March 8, 2010 - Weddings
The first of five sisters, and the only son, wed under the waning light of winter and the "Wedding Oak" at Kanapha Botanical Gardens.
Nancy and Anthony chose to have a wedding with a eco-friendly focus by using almost all local vendors, low-impact decor and by including evergreen tree favors that guests could go home and plant to enjoy and remember for a lifetime.
I do so love a man with curls... and a girl with cheeks just like me. I feel ya sister! But the joke is on them, I swear they make you look younger longer!!
Thank you for choosing us to be a part of your wedding day, we truly truly enjoyed every minute of it!
