Featured Vendor: The LV Studio
We are so proud to tell our friends and clients about Leslie Vega of The LV Studio (soon to be something bigger better and I'm sure wonderfully chic- so look out for it).
She is a former-client, friend, employee and a consummate professional of the graphic arts. Her experience in all aspects of design, including extensive work with wedding professionals has made her a sought after brand designer within the industry, as well as for clients of discerning tastes.
When she isn't obsessing over the perfect paper and creating, she can be found caring for her sweet daughter Nadia, relaxing with her husband Jose, singing and sitting of her comfy couch with a yummy bowl of watermelon (off-the-record I hear she is also a Zumba dynamo).
If you'd like the chance to see and feel samples of her lovely work... and sample some of the yummiest custom sweets and cakes around, be sure to RSVP for "Paper and Sweets" on May 20th at Masterpiece Weddings in Gainesville.
It's also a veritable who's who of wedding goodness to feast your eyes and tummies on so email or call Leslie today!
Here are a few favorite images from our recent photo session with Leslie! Lovely inside and out.
Dancing with Forrest
It's wonderful when you can do what you love, with someone you love!
I had the opportunity to photograph my immensely talented brother, Forrest Outman, for some promotional images featuring him dancing with some of his students. He is currently instructing and competing in Florida, but these were taken at 2 Left Feet Studio in Colorado Springs... and if you can believe it the outdoor shots were taken between two cars in a parking lot on a 40% incline. Somedays you just have no idea that you will be free-climbing and rigging lights with rocks for some photos.
If you are interested in looking this damn cool on the dance floor, check him out on his website "Dance with Forrest" for details. I also happen to know that he teaches couples how to prepare for their wedding day... you know, so you don't do the "weeble wobble" thing for three and a half minutes.
Matt still used one of the signature moves my brother taught us before our wedding to "charm the ladies" (usually accompanied by some waggling of the eyebrows).
Without further ado... my bro shaking what our mama gave him.
Casey & Ryan: Nashville at Night
We caught up with aspiring country music star, Casey Thompson & her husband Ryan for some portraits and one dog-gone chilly night in Nashville!
At night, before all the honkey-tonks open up on Music Row, there is a wonderful silence while all the lights and neon signs whirr to life. It was then that we headed out to look for lovely nighttime ambient light.
Ryan and Casey, huddled for warmth with pink noses, having moved there just a short time earlier to pursue her dream of a career in country music, wanted some images in their new hometown!
Laughing all the while, they made it easy to enjoy jaunting around in 20 degree weather... except for Matt who swears he nearly got frostbite holding the lights. (weenie)
Please to enjoy some Nashville at Night...
Earth Day: greener photography
Happy Earth Day! We wanted to let our clients know what our company is doing responsibly to preserve the planet’s natural beauty and balance.
About a year and a half ago, we made plans to become more responsible stewards of the earth and we are proud to say that we have become full-fledged recycling nuts in our home and office. We were surprised to find that many items we commonly threw away could easily be recycled if we just sorted them. The best part of the whole process has been that while it really took only a few extra minutes a week, it also reduced our business costs.
Now almost 100 percent of our office paper waste and shipping materials are reused or recycled. So don’t be surprised if your orders don’t arrive in pretty boxes, but we do promise you’ll love what’s inside of them!
In an effort to eliminate future waste we have gone to an entirely digital client database, forms, billing and ordering system. Thanks to ShootQ and PickPic this has been a not only painless process but a joyful one.
Next we have added product lines from companies that we admire for their exceptional workmanship in addition to their responsible business practices. Our favorite color lab, ProDPI in sunny California is well on it’s way to being “energy use neutral.” Which means that “all greenhouse gases produced to power the ProDPI facility will be offset by forestry programs, livestock manure management, and landfill gas management to remove our carbon footprint.” They also practice paper waste conservation and silver halide removal before disposing of any waste materials.
Lastly, we now carry environmentally responsible album offerings from Finao. They have an extensive collection of PVC free “pleather” and fabric choices as an alternative to leathers. And if you do choose leather, they do not use hides that have been tanned in Asia, as the working conditions are simply too poor. To finish your book in (responsible) style, they are then packaged in 100% recycled beautiful packaging that include pineapple leaf paper, recycled mulberry leaves, corn starch peanuts and paper-tape. And everything is made right here in the USA!
What can be recycled in Alachua County? There is an extensive list and instructions on how to start here!
Erin and Blair's Album - A Hilton Head Wedding
We've completed putting together the book of Erin and Blair's beautiful wedding on Hilton Head Island last fall and thought we'd share it with you! Here's a few of our favorite pages, and then check out the slideshow of the full book.
