"A Casablanca Wedding" Fashion Shoot at Hippodrome Theatre: Part 1

June 21, 2010 - Weddings

We were so excited when the event staff at the Hippodrome State theatre approached us about photographing their new wedding and reception spaces!  And even more thrilled when they mentioned that Susan at The Event Divas would love to collaborate on the shoot.

What evolved was a fun, chaotic, exhausting and beautiful day based on both of our hopes... that Bogart and Bergman would finally get their happy ending! Having a wedding in a working vintage theater just calls for something that amazing. Naturally, if you are having a Casablanca wedding you have to do a Rick's Cafe Moroccan Reception. Susan outdid herself with vibrant blooms, custom copper and sari fabric linens all illuminated with exotic amber lighting and hanging silver lanterns.

So many local professionals helped us to create this beautiful vision of how your wedding can be at "The Hipp." And we can't thank you and our couples all enough for being troopers and pros. Stay tuned over the next few days to see samples of all their amazingness!

Check out this amazing new space available for events, I can't wait to go back now!

Please to enjoy Part 1 of this mega post...

"And we ask ourselves, where do we find men like these?"

June 21, 2010 - Personal

Happy Father's Day to my dad and grandpa!

I'd write a lengthy post about their influence on me and thank them for bringing me up and all that kind of stuff, but I think this recent conversation snippet should give you enough insight into our relationship.

Grandpa: "So that artist I was telling you about, his paintings; he does very nice bird work."

Matt: "Oh, I do appreciate good bird work."

Dad: "Yes, yes, bird work."

Grandpa: "Well, he also did a very nice sculpture of a lion."

Dad: "Oh, lion work, too. Impressive."

Matt: "Oh yes, that's a rare talent that can pull off both bird and lion work."

Grandpa: "Yes, he's a B&L specialist."

And there it is.

Happy Father's Day!

Matt

Amanda and Chris - Sweetwater Branch Inn Wedding

June 10, 2010 - Weddings

It was the first day of Florida summer weather but despite the heat Amanda & Chris made it everything look 72 degrees and breezy at their Sweetwater Branch Inn wedding last month.

And in the gardens everything was beautifully lush, spring green and blooming.  Perfect for light airy images.

On top of that natural beauty, Amanda and Chris did a fabulous job of decorating, including so many cute details to really make their wedding their own, from hand-made paper windmills, hanging blooms on satin ribbons to the soft petals and draping of Mandy's gown mimicked the peonies in her gown perfectly.  It also doesn't hurt that she has one of the most beautiful faces we've ever photographed!

Their friends were a riot.  I think the garter and bouquet gag (see pictures at the bottom of the blog post) was one of the funniest things I've ever seen at a wedding. We want to party with that mustachioed man!

Thanks so much Amanda and Chris for letting us be part of your day, and we hope you enjoy the lovely images for years to come.
