Peter and Haritha: A South East Asian Wedding Celebration
February 24, 2011 - Weddings
We recently had the great honor of photographing Peter & Haritha's three-day traditional Hindu wedding celebration.
What a marvelous feast for the senses! As a photographer you jump for joy when you are surrounded by acres of vibrant colored silks, handmade jewelry, intricate delicate webs of mehndi and the joy inherent in a wedding day. As you can imagine we have thousands of images to sort through before sharing their full wedding gallery online. The ceremony was held on the main stage of the historic Hippodrome Theatre, followed by a reception at the Florida Museum of Natural History, where Haritha is a curator.
Not to mention a lovely team of experts to help light, decorate and coordinate, like Melissa at Masterpiece Weddings and Keith Watson Productions.
I also plan on making a future post about the names and meanings of the various elements of the ceremony to share with our readers the beautiful symbolism of the South East Asian wedding customs.
So in the meantime, please enjoy these lovely images from their ceremonies.

The Wedding Day Arrives
These Stuart Weitzman red and gold pumps are smokin!
One of my favorite shots of the day! I love the subtle beauty of the body language.
Peter and Haritha have their first moment alone on their wedding day.
On to the Hippdrome!
Haritha teases Peter by pulling away slightly while he reaches to place the garland of flowers around her neck.
A loving look from dad as the ceremony comes to a close

Haritha trained with accompanist, Ali, to sing a song to her new husband as a gift. It was wonderful!
